Riso - Origin

 

The Arabs believe that rice came from a drop of Mahomet’s sweat. A Chinese legend held that during a terrible famine, the inhabitants of Sechuan province sent birds to the gods begging for something to ease their hunger, and in reply the birds brought grains of rice.

 

Master Chef Fausto Airoldi, well-known in the world of haute cuisine, following upon his worldwide search for new ways of presenting rice, decided to spread his gastronomic discoveries around the world by setting up a franchising project. It is here in Madeira that he has established the first of these outlets to enable residents and tourists alike to explore this fascinating new cuisine.

 

Riso, the House dedicated to rice, provides a selection of rice dishes from distant places, blending different basic strains of rice with high-grade ingredients to produce novel main dishes or accompaniments to conventional ones, as the client prefers.
